Space to Be opened in April 2022 as a community space within Scarborough Art Gallery. The space offered a warm welcome to all visitors and closed in early 2026 after an incredible time, having welcomed so many people.
Space to Be supported Scarborough Museums and Galleries to become a more democratic, inclusive and relevant place. The programme worked collaboratively with local community groups to develop the space, with a strong focus on community wellbeing.
A big THANK YOU to everyone who visited and supported Space to Be – from regular visitors and volunteers to the many community groups and partners who helped bring the space to life. You made it a place of connection, care and creativity.
