Studios and Virtual Offices

Woodend Studios comprises of serviced workspaces for the creative industries in a happy and friendly environment where you will find some of Yorkshire’s most innovative creative businesses. We also offer a more flexible approach to working with Virtual Office options, allowing you access to Woodend without the formality of a physical workspace.

Sitwell by Eat Me

Open Tuesday – Saturday / 10am-4pm

 
Headed up by the fabulous Eat Me team, the café serves a selection of hot and soft drinks, savouries including soup and sausage rolls, and sweet treats, including a daily cinnamon roll and coffee special.
 
Novelists and poets Edith, Osbert and Sacheverell, used to spend their summers in the late 19th and early 20th centuries at Woodend. Sitwell by Eat Me is based in the room that was the family’s dining room.

At Woodend, we love art, heritage and culture and have great pleasure of working with Crescent Arts to host a lively contemporary exhibition programme in Woodend Gallery for visitors to Scarborough and, those people lucky enough to call the Yorkshire Coast their home.

Getting Here

Located in The Crescent, 5 minutes walk from Scarborough town centre and around 10 minutes walk from the South Bay beach and foreshore.

Woodend is next door to Scarborough Art Gallery.

There is no car parking on site for general visitors. There are designated parking spaces for tenants.

Accessible parking for Blue Badge holders is outside Woodend on The Crescent.

The Palm Court Car Park is a multi-storey, pay and display car park close to Woodend.

On street pay and display parking is available on The Crescent and Valley Road.

Scarborough railway station is a 10 minute walk away. This is a step free station. Taxis are available at the station.

The nearest bus stop is at York Place, 2 minutes walk from Woodend.

East Yorkshire Buses provide bus travel services around Scarborough borough.

Yorkshire Coastliner bus service provides travel links from Leeds, Whitby and Bridlington.

Arriva provide bus travel into Scarborough from Middlesbrough, Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay.

Access

Woodend Gallery and Studios is a large stone building with a modern extension made of stone, metal and glass, located on The Crescent.

From two large stone pillars, a short driveway leads down to the main entrance door.

Woodend is located next door to Scarborough Art Gallery and can be accessed from Valley Road, through the Valley Gardens.

Arrival 
There is step free access to the Woodend along with a small set of steps to the main door. Inside there is a Welcome Desk and our friendly staff will be ready to greet you.

The Welcome Desk, shop, café and gallery  are on the ground floor. The ground floor is fully accessible to wheelchairs and pushchairs.

Accessible toilet
There is a fully accessible toilet available to visitors on the ground floor.

Toilets and baby changing
The accessible toilet on the ground floor has baby changing facilities.

Assistance animals
We welcome guide dogs, hearing dogs and assistance dogs in the gallery. Drinking bowls are available on request from the information desk. When visiting, please take responsibility for your assistance animal as it should remain under your care and control throughout your visit.

Dogs 
Well behaved dogs, kept on a lead throughout your visit, are welcome in Woodend.


Studios 

Tenant office and studio spaces are located throughout Woodend and are accessible to tenants and staff only.

Sitwell Library 
A stunning yet cosy panelled room, the library is located on the ground floor. If you wish to visit the library, please contact us ahead of your visit on 01723 384500 or info@scarboroughmuseumsandgalleries.org.uk.

Conference Room 
Located on the ground floor, this space is used for venue hire and meetings. This room is only accessible to staff and guests who have booked the room.

The Butler’s Pantry
Located on the ground floor, this space is used for venue hire and meetings. This room is only accessible to staff and guests who have booked the room.

Accessible toilet
There is a fully accessible toilet located on the ground floor of the building.

Toilets and baby changing
The toilet on the ground floor is equipped with baby changing facilities

Pushchair parking
There is a place to store pushchairs.

Booking is not required to visit.

You are welcome to wear a face covering and we encourage you to do so in busy areas, but it is not mandatory.

You will find lots of places to clean your hands. If you need to cough or sneeze, please catch it in a tissue, bin it and clean your hands.

To keep everyone safe our staff are doing lots of cleaning.

Please be mindful of others as you move around the venues.

Hand sanitiser will be available on entry and as you exit Woodend.
