Living and working on the North Yorkshire coast, Wendy creates textile works that stitch together fragments of history, folklore, the natural world and contemporary absurdity.
Through embroidery, recycled patching and layering she develops narratives which blur the boundaries between fact and fancy.
Previously a sculptor in wood, she now solely works with textiles and fabric constructions traditionally perceived as “women’s decorative works”. In her words “this helps me to say what I need to about the world”.
Wendy would like her textiles to be seen as small acts of storytelling, colourful collages that invite the viewers to look close, to laugh a little and find the beauty.
