We’re really sorry, but the West Wing of the Rotunda Museum and the John Atkinson Grimshaw display at the Art Gallery are currently closed due to water leaks. We’re working to open this again as soon as possible – thanks for your understanding.

20 January 2024—7 May 2024Tuesday - Sunday, 10am-5pm Free with an Annual Pass (£3 / Free under 18s and registered carers)

Celebrating happy accidents and joyful mess, Displayful invites visitors to enjoy contemporary artistic responses to objects from the collection. Combining new work from five regional artists, Luke Beech, Kate Fox, Wendy Galloway, Liberty Hodes and Angela Knipe, alongside historical artefacts, Displayful looks to consider new possibilities for the lives of objects.

In a post-pandemic society, we want our museums and galleries to play a positive role as spaces of sanctuary to support health and wellbeing. Brightening up the dark winter months, Displayful aims to encourage joy, laughter and self-expression amongst visitors, reinforcing that we all need access to art and creativity.

Amongst a wide and deliberately random collection of objects, visitors can expect to see rabbits, a stoat and an impressive potato!
