We’re really sorry, but the Grimshaw exhibition in the Art Gallery and the West Wing of the Rotunda Museum are currently closed due to water leaks following recent heavy rainfall. We’re working to open them again as soon as possible – thanks for your understanding.

Calling all teachers for The Wild Escape

Calling all teachers!

From Jan-Jul 2023, The Wild Escape invites primary school children (ages 7-11) to explore the animals in their local museum and create artwork, which will be shown in museums nationwide and online for Earth Day 2023.

At Scarborough Museums we will be offering FREE The Wild Escape workshops to explore the animals in our museum and create an artwork imagining their journey to a natural habitat rich in life.

How your school can take part
Our ‘My Scarborough Garden’ workshops will be FREE to schools thanks to support from Art Fund.

During the workshop, children will:

  • Have encounters with our Natural History collection.
  • Explore and interact with the local natural environment.
  • Learn about the human impact on local species.
  • Learn about ways to help protect the environment.
  • Work with local artist Megan Woodward-Hay to build an insect hotel eco-sculpture, to be displayed at our venues for Earth Day 2023.
The workshop will support the National Curriculum at KS2 in Science, History, Geography and Art, teaching children how to nurture the environment around them.

If you would like to take part in a workshop, simply email learning@scarboroughmuseumsandgalleries.org.uk to book.
